A ledger.
A ledger.
A night porter.
One hour.
Marseille, 1962. Hotel night porter Jules Marin finds a ledger that proves the men upstairs are paying the men downstairs. He has one hour before the shift changes and the ledger goes back where it belongs.
He hides it inside a paper tiger, a child's toy from the lost-and-found. By morning the tiger has been through three hands, two pockets and one furnace, and nobody is sure who is holding the real one.
